Sherman Lloyd Robbins, 88, of Elkins passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at home. He was born February 20, 1924 in Durham, AR to Elbert and Lola Springston Robbins. As a Veteran, Sherman served in the US Navy as a yeoman for 4 years in World War II. He was a mechanic for many years before becoming a rural mail carrier for 21 years. Sherman served faithfully as the superintendent of the Elkins Community Church for 44 years and was a member of the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Moselle, to whom he was married for 58 years. Survivors include his brother, Lynn Robbins; sister, Juanita Dobrinski; son, Rex Robbins and his wife, Tina; daughter, Ann Phelan and her husband David; granddaughter, Samantha Sisemore and her husband, Ken all of Fayetteville; grandson, JD Robbins and his wife, Rosalind of Beavercreek, Ohio. Great grandchildren include Brian Sisemore, Abigail Sisemore, Brianna Robbins, Laura Robbins and Zackary Sheridan as well as other family members and numerous friends. His family will receive friends at Beard’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held 10 am Friday at the Elkins Community Church with Dr. Andrew Hall and Rev. Charlie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the McCord Cemetery. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Your dad lived a good long life and will be missed by the people of Elkins. Mom always commented that she would see your dad out walking or see him on his porch. His activity is what kept him strong for so many years. He will be missed.

i am sorry for your loss. he was a good man, father, and husband. i remember when he would come into revenue office when u were manager. there is a time for everything u and your family are in our prayers . god bless all. ann retired
