Feb 9, 2025

Steve Bates, age 53, of West Fork, Arkansas, passed away on February 1, 2025. Born on March 2, 1971, in Fort Worth, Texas, Steve was a man known for his larger-than-life personality, boundless energy, and a heart full of kindness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Deanna Bates. Together, they built a life filled with love, joy, and countless cherished moments. Steve is also survived by his daughter, Christian Bates; son-in-law, Nick Judkins; and his adored grandson, Tucker Judkins, who was the light of his life. He also leaves behind his mother, Carolyn Bowen; father, Berley Bowen; and his best friend of 40 years, Warren Christopher. He was preceded in death by his son, Brent Bates; brother, Ronnie Bates; grandmother, Lula Cauthen; uncle, Marshall Bates; sister-in-law, Donna Rowbotham; and mother-in-law, Margie Holman.

Steve’s career spanned multiple fields, including HVAC journeyman, data center engineer, and radio personality. No matter the role, Steve was admired for his work ethic and his ability to connect with people. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand, whether for a friend, family member, or even an animal in need.

A passionate lover of music, Steve’s spirit could often be found rocking out with a guitar in his hand or air-drumming to his favorite tunes. His love for rock ‘n’ roll was as big as his heart, and his passion for music was infectious.

Steve’s greatest joy, however, was his grandson, Tucker. Their bond was unbreakable, and Tucker was truly his world. Steve’s love, generosity, and genuine care for others will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. In the meantime, the family asks that you hold Steve’s memory close, and share a story or a song that reminds you of him.

He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Growing up as one of Christians best friends when we were kids he was always around growing up. He used to take Christian and I everywhere. He would take us the radio station and let us play. Steve was always dancing and signing if he wasn’t playing his guitar. I don’t ever remember a time he didn’t have a smile on his face. He will be missed and he definitely is loved.
