Tonya Y. Smith, 48, of Centerton, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022. She was born January 28, 1974 in Russellville, AR to Larry and Patti Standifer.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas.
Tonya was a graduate of West Fork High School and the U of A in Fayetteville. She went on to graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis where she received her degree in physical therapy.
After graduate school, Tonya worked at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. From there she worked at Kids Post in Springdale. She then went to Children’s Therapy Team where she was employed for 15 years.
Tonya loved her job and the children she treated. She loved playing cards and was an avid Razorback fan. Above all, she loved her family. Tonya was always busy with football, soccer, basketball and baseball having three boys.
She is survived by her husband, Dustin Smith of the home; three sons, Garrett, Max and Kale of the home; her parents, Larry and Patti Standifer of West Fork; two sisters, Rebecca Davidson and husband JJ of Gravette and Jennifer Lewis and husband James of Spicewood, TX; a nephew, JC Lewis of Spicewood, TX; and a niece, Brianna Gillespie of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2022 at Hyland Park Church in Fayetteville with Reverend Brad Redding officiating. Interment will follow in Eighty-Six Cemetery in Strickler.
Dustin and family, I am so saddened by the loss of Tonya in this life. I cherish the years I worked with her at ACH and still remember her stories and how she held her hair in a bun with anything she could find, usually pens! Prayers on behalf of your family, may God bless you and comfort you.
Hello I went to PT school with Tanya and I remembered her as one of the kindest and gracious person I know. I am sorry this has happened to you and your family. Just want to share my condolences.
I am at loss. My heart goes out to the Smiths and the Standifers. Growing up Tonya was an important part of my childhood. So many memories of her. She will missed as much as she was loved.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I used to work with Tonya 11 years ago. I loved her bright smile and positivity. She was always so kind and was amazing to work with. Praying for all of you.
Miss Tonya was our grandson’s physical therapist. She gave him her total attention for the whole hour of his sessions, pool and land. And she gave us tips on what we could do every day to help him reach his goals. He was always happy to see her.
She will be greatly missed.

Nothing can be said to make things better. I know that Tonya is with our Lord Jesus Christ and her newborn Nicholas. As you know I almost lost my youngest son Shawn when he was born. As was he had to have open heart surgery.

I had the honor of working with Tonya for 13 years at Children’s Therapy TEAM. Tonya is irreplaceable as a therapist and friend and even more so as a mother and wife. She was a special lady full of care, compassion and love.
She loved those boys and was so proud of each one.

My heart and prayers go out to Dustin and the boys. I have known Miss Tonya since my daughter starting PT with her at Kid’s Post. We then followed Tonya to CTT in Fayetteville, where my daughter continued PT with Tonya for 15 years. I loved her dearly and will always miss this special Angel.

I feel so fortunate to have had Tonya as a friend and coworker for 16 years. She was so easy to be around and easy to love. She kept me going through life’s challenges with a listening ear and kind words. She was smart, kind, passionate, loving, and an amazing boy-mom. She will be so missed.
From the few times I was around Tonya, it was always evident that she was a devoted mother to her sons and extremely loved by her sisters. Sending strength and healing to Dustin & the kiddos, as well as the rest of the family. Keeping y’all in my prayers throughout this difficult time.

Tonya is loved and will be greatly missed by our family. She served as a physical therapist for our daughters for more than five years, and I was honored to be her co-worker as well. Tonya was an absolute blessing to our family. She was a kind, intelligent, diligent, contentious, and joyful therapist.
