Velma Harris, 89, of Durham, passed away Saturday, August the 8, 2020. She was born March 2, 1931 in Durham to Walter E. and Mary Anne Milan Turner.

Velma worked in housekeeping until retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harris; parents; five brothers, Dossie Turner, Johnnie Turner, Leon Turner, Cecil Turner and Norman Turner; and one sister, Joan Turner.

She is survived by one sister, Rosie Vanover and husband Harrison of Durham; one brother, Leonard Turner of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Henshaw officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service-time.

A private burial will be in McCord Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McCord Cemetery.
