FlagVernon Ray Cooper, 85, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Fayetteville.  He was born January 31, 1932 in St. John, KS. to William and Frances Allen Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Rodena Cooper; a daughter, Pam Allen; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters.

Ray was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.  He enjoyed going to the VFW.

He is survived by a brother, Paul Cooper of Bel Aire, KS. and a grandson, Jimmy Ray Allen.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Beard’s Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2017 at the funeral home.

    I am sorry for your loss. I met Mr. Cooper while visiting with the therapy dogs at the Veterans Home. We loved visiting with him. He always had a new song he had written or was working on or played his harmonica for us. He will be missed.
