Virginia Viola Hancock, August 20, 1928~March 28, 2021

Mar 30, 2021

Virginia Viola Hancock, age 92, of Elkins, AR went to be with the Lord suddenly on Sunday March 28, 2021.  She was born August 20, 1928 in Ten Mile, TN to parents Burgess and Maudy Gennoe.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints, Psalm 116:15.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.  She had a strong faith and loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.  She was an example of a Godly woman, putting her faith first in all she did.  Her unwavering faith in God lead her to be an active member of Harris Baptist Church for almost 45 years.  In her early years, Virginia was employed be Levi Strauss, and retired as an instructor after 20 plus years.

Virginia is survived by her son, Glenn; five grandchildren, Laura, Jamie, Denny, Benjamin and Mirinda; and numerous great-grandchildren.  She was greeted in Heaven by her husband of more than 50 years, Thomas Avery; two brothers, Burgess (Uncle JR) and Haskel; two sisters, Betty and Lena; two daughters, Marilyn and Darlene; and granddaughter, Tammy.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Virginia, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, AR Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 5-7 PM.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 2, 2021 at McCord Cemetery in Elkins with Pastor Casey Warford officiating.

So sorry to loose the last member of my mom (Edith) brothers and sisters. Our family has the last of the kids gone. I have such fond memories of our family gathering. A link is missing. I love all my family and will see them again in Gods time.
