Wanda Jean Johnson Bowen, 83, of Wesley, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home. She was born November 28, 1937 in Wesley to Jean and Madge Johnson.
Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Dean Bowen; her parents, Jean and Madge Johnson; two sisters; and one brother.
She was baptized in Wichita, Kansas in 1955 in the Arkansas River along with her husband Dean. Dean and Wanda were both wonderful parents. With Wanda, a harsh word was never spoken about anyone she knew. She would help anyone in need.
God was first in her life and she wanted peace within her family.
She might act as a short-order cook to many, a home manager or an unlicensed therapist. She may not have always given the advice that we wanted to hear, but now, we, (kids & grandkids) are thankful for the advice as we have grown older. Wanda wanted and prayed daily for all to love one another.
Wanda was a loving wife and grandma. She also had a special bond with many nieces and nephews.
She always said she might not have been as good as she thought she should be, but was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Steven and Lynn Bowen of Wesley and David and Sabrina Bowen of Hindsville; two daughters, Barbara and Marty Bosch of Olathe, Kansas and Lori and Robert Trinkle of Huntsville; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Mt. Olive Regular Baptist Church followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.
Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
