William Floyd Patterson, January 7, 1949~May 29, 2026

Jun 9, 2026

William Floyd Patterson, the man, the myth, the legend, joined his ten brothers and sisters May 29, 2026. He was born January 7, 1949 to Lucile White and SJ Patterson in Lepanto, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mildred, SJ Jr., Rachel, Patrick (Pooky), Patsy, Vonnie, James Aubrey, Juanita, Jimmie Bernard, and Beverly.

Before retiring from the VA as a Medical Technologist, Floyd had very diversified careers-to name a few-offshore Gulf oil drilling, technician on San Onofre nuclear plant installation, painting specialist at homes including Frank Sinatra and Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, builder of the bridge in Memphis over the Mississippi River…

Floyd was a regular at the annual Terrapin Derby and class reunions in Lepanto, a member of the Roots of Evil band-winning the Arkansas State Battle of the Bands. He enjoyed playing the guitar, golf, watching the Razorbacks play, the New York Yankees, John Wayne movies, playing poker at the casino, and relaxing on the front porch watching and waving to the neighbors and their dogs enjoying the trail.

He is survived by his loving wife Joanne; brother Troy (Jennifer); son Patrick (Andrea); daughters, Liz (Dustin) and Katy (Grant); and numerous nieces and nephews. He adored his grandchildren, Luna, Autumn, Lilli, Leilani, Jace, and Danica and was fortunate to have several live nearby and cherished their visits.

A celebration of life will be announced and held in October at the gravesite in Lepanto.

Floyd used to give me a ride home from the swimming pool on his Honda scrambler 305 i think.
I remember listening and watching the roots of evil at the Argo’s garage.
      Godspeed Floyd!
      You’re a cool dude.

When I was very young he was a rock star. I had my very first motorcycle ride behind him. I have fond memories of Floyd. I hope all who loved him enjoy sweet memories to keep him present in your lives.

As a kid… I always thought he was a rock star! I always enjoyed seeing him at many Terrapin Derbys and catching up with all the Pattersons! Hugs to Troy and Jennifer and the rest of the family. I know he will be missed by so many of us.

Floyd was such a force of nature – a guy you could never forget. Floyd kept our high school days full of laughter, and I am sure that his sense of humor and mischevious smile captivated everyone he met. Through all his adventures and accomplishments – what a wonderful full life he lived! My condolences to his family and all the friends that were touched by him.
