William W. Long, Sr., 93, of West Fork passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was born November 21, 1924 in Watts, OK. to George N. and Goldie Mae Long.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Norman Long; two half-sisters; two half-brothers; and one grandchild, Tony.
He worked as a mechanic for most of his life and also took correspondence courses to work in the electronic field. Bill loved playing guitar and mandolin and singing in church. He also loved fishing, boating and camping. Above all, he loved his wife, Artie, of 71 years, his children and grandchildren. Bill was a member of Hyland Park Assembly of God Church (formerly Central Assembly) since 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Artie Long, of the home; a son, Walter Long and wife, Cresa of Winslow; a daughter, Patricia Standifer and husband, Larry of West Fork; a daughter, Pamela Thaler of West Fork; grandchildren, Patrick, Chrissie, Tonya, Angie, Rebecca, Jennifer, Jessica, Sarah, Tony, Kendra, Taylor, Kateasha and Will; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Hyland Park Assembly of God where he was a member. Bill loved his church and church family. He was devoted to God, praying until the end. Pastors Brad Redding and Dean Jones will be officiating. Interment will follow in West Fork Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.

I was so very very sorry to hear of your loss. Bill was a good man to his very core. My kindest regards and warmest thoughts are with you as you remember this great man and the life well lived.

I am so very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing! We have just got back from Houston my cousin Dan Norwood passed also, so just hearing about this! I truly loved Bill, he was a wonderful man and lifelong friend! I have so many happy memories with all of you, and will always hold him in my heart! Bill was a good friend….we were his pastors for seventeen years…1953 – 1970. We were blessed to be able to renew fellowship with he and Artie in 1992 when we retired. He will be missed!
