Wilma Lou Watson, 82, of Fayetteville went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2017 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born June 4, 1934 in St. Paul, AR. to Willy and Lucinda Johnson. She was one of eight children.
She attended St. Paul School where she played basketball until she graduated in 1952.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Bobby Watson and her one grandson, Skipper Allan Watson.
Wilma was an active member of Fayetteville First Assembly of God. She was best known for working at restaurants throughout the county where she made countless friends and was voted best pie baker in NWA. She had worked for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years, a job she dearly loved. Wilma was an inspiration to everyone around her. She prayed nightly for the officers of Washington County. She loved to fish anytime she got a chance, going places with her grandchildren. Wilma loved life whatever it dealt her. Last but not least, she loved talking about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you were ever around Wilma very much, you could feel the Lord all over her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Mom will be missed greatly.
She is survived by 2 sons, Allan Watson of West Fork and Andy Watson and wife, Kim of Fayetteville; 4 granddaughters, Shelly Thomas, Jessi Bolinger, Emerald and Baylea Watson; one sister-in-law, Mary Lee Johnson; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 20, 2017 at Beard’s Chapel with Tim Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 3-6 P.M. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Granny Watson as I always called her was a dear lady. She spoke her mind, but you knew whether good or scolding she loved you and wanted only what was best for you. I can honestly say, she was one of the dearest people I have ever known. She loved Jesus, she loved family & she loved life! That in itself is saying a lot. What she had was always enough. We were truly blessed to have been loved by her. She will be missed, but also admired, knowing she is, without a doubt, reunited with loved ones in heaven.

Aunt Wilma you will be mist and i know you and your mother are having a good time in heaven. i remember the good old days when we all as a family will get together on Sunday with granny and families.
Wayne and Andy: I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Wilma and Bobby, both, were great people and neighbors for many, many years. I didn’t know that Wilma was the same age as my dad. RIP, Wilma. May God comfort you, Wayne and Andy

We remember Aunt Wilma coming down to visit Art and Sue and they brought her over to one of our get togethers. These gatherings always included lots of picking and singing, and Aunt Wilma was really enjoying the festivities. She joined in with us and sang along with a bunch of old songs. She really seemed to enjoy herself, and we definitely enjoyed her presence. She had a way of making you feel so welcome. She will be missed dearly. Prayers to all of the family.
Aunt Wilma you were the Greastest Aunt of all times, you & uncle bob was so good to Noreta,Chuck and I..we will never forget you…going to miss your phone calls, and you calling me Susie girl..RIP Art will miss singing with you…Thanks for the memories..we will meet again..Tell Mom, Hello for us and we miss her so much.. So very sorry to hear of Miss Wilma’s passing.
She was such a kind and loving soul. She was very important in the work she did at Washington County. I worked with her in Dining and she was a vital asset to all of our well being. I will miss her.
